Welcome to our April 2007 newsletter!

In addition to a host of 'news you can use' information for your sweeping operation, we'll take you on a sweeping odyssey to Asia -- all from the comfort of your desk chair!

by Ranger Kidwell-Ross

Ranger Kidwel-Ross, editor In terms of containing information that covers the entire spectrum of sweeping, this edition of our newsletter is probably the most complete we've ever done.

Besides bringing you first-person stories from my recent visits to Thailand and Singapore, I've just completed a book entitled 'The Rise of Biodiesel' and wrote an article on sweeping for the March edition of Better Roads magazine. Whew!

Interesting to me, I found that what I learned during these endeavors combined to provide proof positive that the U.S., in spite of the reputation we'd like to think it holds as a worldwide leader, is actually lagging in a variety of technological areas. When you find out how widespread biodiesel usage is in other industrialized countries, and see the thoroughness with which Singapore's sweeping program operates, you'll see what I mean.

I've heard from a number of people through the years who wished there were some way to enjoy and benefit from our articles other than having to read them on their computer screen. Until now, I tell them to print out the ones they want to read off-screen; then, they can also pass them along to others in their organization who might benefit from reading the material. However, since technology now allows both video and audio interviews to be viewed/listened to easily on a computer, we have several newsletter 'articles' that are actually audio and/or video files you can download and enjoy in that format. Please let me know how you like these and if you'd like to see more of them.

In addition to learning about biodiesel's benefits (which include up to 100% more engine life!), anyone with a sweeper will want to read noted fleet management expert, John Dolce's, article on how to assess whether to do your own mechanical work or to sub it out. The points he brings up are real eye-openers. We'll have a follow-up article by Dolce in our next newsletter issue, as well.

Tips on working together as a husband-and-wife contractor team; what you need to know before disciplining or firing employees; how to best market your company in this age of the Internet; the value in being a 'one call does it all' sweeping contractor -- we have all that and more in this issue. I'm also glad to report that Ron Roberts, 'The Contractors Coach,' will be a regular contributor to the WorldSweeper.com website. In this issue, Roberts article provides the information sweeping contractors need in order to develop systems designed to spur their company's growth.

As always, if you have a sweeping-related need just let me know. I'll try to assist in any way I can. I routinely reference WorldSweeper.com articles and studies, provide information from my "Fundamentals of the Power Sweeping Business," manual and put contractors and city officials in touch with others who may have answers to their information needs. By the same token, if you have additional information on any of the topics we cover – or need more details – please let me know. I'll be glad to help if at all possible.

By the way, if you don't have a listing yet in our Contractor Locator section, you are missing out on what is arguably the best advertising value in sweeping. At the same time, you'll be helping to keep WorldSweeper.com online and active. If you're a contractor who uses this website, please help support the site and, at the same time, increase the exposure for your company, by getting a Contractor Locator listing.

By the way, you're not yet a naPSa member, we are still offering you an incentive to do so. For a limited time, when you become a member you'll get a $50 discount on any Contractor Locator listing here at WorldSweeper.com.

If you like what you read in this newsletter or on the website, be sure to thank the advertisers who sponsored it. The only way for them to know you appreciate their support of WorldSweeper.com is to tell them!

Good Sweeping!
