Clean Up Leaves The Easy Way.

This Tip was sent to us by Dallas Banghart, of 3B Parking Maintenance:

I used to dread the leaf season around here. We would invariably have piles of leaves that needed to be collected and then stuffed into bags or the hopper of our sweeper.

However, that was before I hit on an idea that makes cleanup of piles of leaves almost fun. What I do now is leave my auxiliary engine idling and open the inspection door in the side of my hopper. All I have to do is throw armloads of leaves in the general direction of the door and they are pulled right in. It really works slick and is a time and labor saver as well.

Editor's Note: We thought that sounded like a good idea, although a caution seems needed: Be careful that nothing is in the leaf pile that might scratch the paint. Even leaves themselves, if you did it enough, might possibly be enough to cause some scratching.

Our thanks to Dallas for his Tip. Have an idea that would be helpful to others in the industry? Please let us know what it is.
