Located in Anaheim's Convention Center, the APWA 2012 International Public Works Congress & Exposition will feature the latest innovations in public works through education sessions on technology, applications, leadership, sustainability, and infrastructure management. "APWA's 2012 International Public Works Congress & Exposition will set new standards for supporting public works professionals and the communities they build and infrastructure they manage around the world," said APWA Executive Director Peter B. King. "This year marks APWA's 75th year of building stronger communities through support for public works education and outreach. Appropriately, this year's Anaheim International Public Works Congress & Exposition will concentrate on helping communities SHINE all over the globe," said APWA Executive Director Peter B. King. "Known as the 'Best Show in Public Works,' the APWA annual gathering of public works professionals gives attendees the chance to learn more about great urban and rural environments and how public works shapes these communities. This year's conference will not only feature high-tech and high impact innovations and solutions, but will also focus on the most innovative infrastructure and community planning programs in North America. Attendees will also learn to connect sustainability principles to day-to-day operations," said King. "There will be over 128 education sessions to choose from, and conference participants can connect with public works colleagues through many networking opportunities. Participants will come away armed with tools enabling them to make a positive difference in their communities and organizations," King said. "And, the 2012 APWA International Congress and Exposition will also feature the 'Expo Experience' with the 'Continuing the Conversation' program where interviews will be conducted during exhibit hours, while conference participants explore an exposition floor of over 70,000 square feet," said King. APWA is stepping up efforts to make an even greener "Best Show in Public Works" event than in previous years. Efforts include electronic registration, printing on FSC certified paper, printing smaller Congress Previews and Programs, education sessions on integrating sustainability principles in all activities, electronic speaker files, exercising a green procurement strategy, providing tips on implementing waste reduction, energy and water conservation, and clean air practices.
