Which type of mechanical sweeper ?

Post by davidsscs » Tue Jan 16, 2018 8:57 am

We are using Johnston sweepers the CX200 AND CX400 , however good these machines are for collecting debris . We lack results when it comes to ;

B - GRAVEL LARGE DUST PARTICLES , like for instance after road works.

What is the recommended item for the above uses , all help and recommendations are much appreciated .

I am not familiar with those Johnston sweepers. The Johnston sweepers do not sell well in the private contractor market. They sell well to municipalities (d/t they're cheapest when it comes to public RFP's). But do not sell well on the auction block when the city's put them out to pasture. Heck, I've seen guys buying them at auctions to just get the engines out of them. And chop up the rest for a few hundred bucks metal recycle, haha

To answer your question about fine dust particles; A Tymco 600 or 210, when properly used. They won't pick up rocks bigger than walnuts (or peaches). And aren't meant for heavy dirt. But are great for getting fine dust.

A tip when using them: Start with a bath-tub of water in the hopper. Don't depend on the interior water sprayers. If you have a hopper 1/3 filled with water , that will slosh around and abate the dust to keep it from exhausting back into the air.
