Tires for W3500

Post by BruceW » Wed Mar 24, 2010 8:33 am

We are curious as to what tires people are using on their vacuum trucks. We purchased new tires for the rear in January and 4,000 miles later they are junk. They are Kenda Radial Klever A/S tires. We used to run recapped grips that were heavy duty but getting casings has become a challenge.

We used to purchase used tires from a local guy and got just as many miles out of them.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

We got 12,000 miles out of our first set of original tires on our Air Cub. Switched to TOYO for the second set and went oversize to get a little more clearance out of the unit. Those tires got 20,000 miles before they needed replaced.
On the Victory we are still on the first set but they are about 1/2 gone at just under 12,000. I think the better millage is because the first 10,000 miles was traveling across country to bring the machine home.
Driver habits are the biggest factor on tire ware. Heavy load, and tight turns come in second.
I figure about $1.00 per mile in tire ware. and close to the same in fuel.
