Strange problem 2006 Schwarze 333

Postby BruceW » Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:50 pm

Our 333 is experiencing the following problem and we are at a loss on what to check at this time. We are curious if others have had this problem and if so, how did you resolve it.

This is a 2006 GMC truck with the belt driven hydraulic set up for the back unit.

Problem:

Sometimes when you engage the PTO and press the switch to lower the head, nothing happens. Most of the time if you then start the fan, the head will work just fine. But sometimes you have to turn the PTO to even get the fan to go, then other times you have to turn off the truck to get the fan or head to work.

Our drivers usual routine at this time is to put the truck into 1st gear, engage the PTO, start the fan, lower the head.

So far we have always gotten the truck to work but a few times it took turning off the truck a couple of times. We have been told turning the PTO on/off or the truck on/off does not affect the system. But we know it does somehow, we just don't know how.

What we have tried so far:

We have worked with Schwarze and they are currently thinking it is a ground issue. So far they have had us replace the head switch, the dimm connector to the coil, coil and solenoid. They had us check the pump pressure and it was fine.

We took the truck to the shop and they confirmed with Schwarze that the computer settings are correct.

We swapped the relays in the console to see if it was going bad, but no luck. Only the hydraulic part of this system doesn't work when the head won't go up or down. Over head lights, water pump, etc work fine.

We have followed the wiring and it appears to be fine, but we are reluctant to start unwrapping all of the wiring.

Please note the engine computer module has been replaced on this truck due to hit sending a false idle speed. But both Schwarze and the truck shop state this has nothing to do with the problem.

If you have any suggestions, we would appreciate your input. You can post here, email us at thesweep@verizon.net or call us at 208-772-4369. Please note we are in Idaho and therefore on PST.

I think you should contact to your local mechanic. I am sure he will help you on this matter.
