Class codes for workers comp.

There seems to be several different class codes that can cover sweeper drivers. I believe there's one code that actually refers to "sweepers" in its description. But we can also be in a janitorial category. And another describes "clearing and grubbing for paving related work". And I have talked to s...

Re: Union infiltration

Asphalt, I used to think we had it bad, when we were forced to sign on the dotted line. But after reading your story, I realize there are those that have it worse. In your case, you can't simply pass on the cost to the customer. Because you're not doing prevailing wage jobs. You're in the private se...

Re: Best Sweeper for malls

What do you mean by "updraft" ? Seems to me that all sweepers nowadays, that are doing shopping centers, are regenerative. Meaning the air goes in a circular flow through the head, tubes, etc.... With certain-point where there's allowed exhaust, in-order to create an imbalance , so that it sucks har...

Re: Union infiltration

" The paving crew signed union cards that were brought forward by one employee that use to work at a union job and for every card he got signed he received $100 from the union " That is just so classic, eh ? They think you are just filthy rich, and so *...

A little clarification: That last post came after someone's rambling post about hex-screws, or some such nonsense. Was since deleted :)

Re: Do any of you get requests for "vacuum brooms" ?

To expand the topic: Not sure about Alaska or other states, but here in CA: There is a bunch of environmental hoopala going on here, about "groundwater runoff". So if a place like a factory, industrial plant, mechanical maintenance facility (bus yard, equipment repairs, etc...) has any sort of debri...

Do any of you get requests for "vacuum brooms" ?

Occasionally we get calls from persons requesting a "vacuum broom" . This can mean different things to different people: a) They might just be confusing terms and simply have no idea of whether they want a broom or a vacuum, and are just using the words inter-changeably. b) Or they're thinking of so...

2005 Broom Bear, DPF compliant. Low miles/low hours

2005 Elgin Broom Bear on Freightliner Chassis. 24,832 miles. 2,757 hours. This sweeper has come straight from municipal usage (not private sector usage). Brand new California DPF device: "ESW Therma-Cat" just installed. Since we bought it, we've used it less than 300 hrs. Mostly just testing it out,...
