Victory Sweepers announces an electric, battery-powered version of its popular T500, tow-behind sweeper.

Imagine a sweeper so silent in operation that passersby take notice when a bottle hits the inside of the hopper! That has become a reality with the new E500 sweeper from Victory Sweepers, Inc.

Mark Schwarze's innovative sweeper design ideas have long been one of his central hallmarks, both at his new company, Victory Sweepers, Inc., and while operating Schwarze Industries, Inc. for over two decades. Riding on the success of the radically different styling of his company's MarkI and MarkII sweeper models, the E500 marks the first parking area sweeper to operate via stored battery power. "Although we have gotten as much as 13 hours of operation from a single charge," said Schwarze, "what we expect to be standard is nine hours of sweeping after five hours of charging.

"The enormous difference is in the sound: The E500's operation is virtually silent. Because the sound of debris hitting the hopper is so relatively noisy now, we have taken steps to sound-insulate the hopper. Without that, the sound of solid debris like bottles hitting the hopper can be startling to passersby."

The E500 is powered by technology similar to that used by the golfcart industry for some years. The E500 is outfitted with four heavy duty, 6-volt batteries. Recharging is done via a standard 110-volt outlet. Basically the operator turns a key that turns on an electric motor. It's as simple as that.

"We don't yet know what the electrical usage will be," continued Schwarze, "which offsets the approximately 1.5 gallons of fuel our T500 uses in a normal eight-hour shift. From the responses we've seen so far, the virtually silent operation is the most important aspect—along with the fact that when it comes to sweeping the E500 is a little powerhouse just like the T500."

In the following audio interview of about 6 minutes, Mark Schwarze provides an overview of Victory Sweepers' new E500, electric tow-behind sweeper.
