Elgin Sweeper Joins NASCAR Green to Support New Track Drying Initiative
Elgin, IL – March 2014
Elgin Sweeper has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement allowing the company to become an official partner with NASCAR Green, the sustainability arm of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. (NASCAR). The new alliance makes Elgin Sweeper an Official NASCAR Green Partner, with the designation "Official Sweeper of NASCAR Green."
Elgin Sweeper will be present at each NASCAR race event weekend to support NASCAR's Air Titan equipment to dry rain-soaked racetracks, saving jet fuel and reducing NASCAR's overall carbon footprint. In addition to supporting the Air Titan equipment with the Elgin Crosswind® Specialty Track Sweeper, Elgin Sweeper will help clean and dry the tracks during caution periods if necessary.
Elgin Crosswind® Specialty Track Sweeper
The regenerative air Crosswind Specialty Track Sweeper adapts features from Elgin Sweeper's highly successful Crosswind GRS (glycol recovery sweeper), a special-purpose sweeper used to vacuum liquid glycol from airport runways. This specialty sweeper includes unique features developed for racetrack sweeping, track drying and conditioning, such as a side air-blast nozzle, a reverse sweep system, a 20,000 CFM-rated blower and a hydraulically-driven side broom with plastic bristles.
In addition to sweeping the racetracks, the Elgin Sweeper Crosswind Specialty Track Sweeper can also quickly and efficiently remove standing water, rubber and debris in and around the pit area, which contributes to the overall safety of the racers, their crews and spectators. The sweeper's powerful blower is ideally suited for locations such as grass on the inside field, pit areas and weepers (cracks on a racetrack where water seeps through).
According to Higgins, the speed and maneuverability of the Crosswind Track Sweeper ensures prompt response on and off the track. "This sweeper can get from job to job and make quick work of any sweeping challenges that come up before, during and after a race," he said.
Elgin Sweeper EcoInfused Technology Initiative "The technological innovations developed by Elgin Sweeper as part of the EcoInfusedTM Technology initiative will provide the powerful performance, fuel economy and overall value our municipal and contractor customers demand from their sweeping equipment," Higgins said.
EcoInfusedTM Technology combines science and innovation to produce more environmentally efficient sweepers. This initiative represents years of unmatched innovation and success combining the science of alternative fuels, high-efficiency dust, debris and particulate removal, advanced filtration systems, improved horsepower management and water conservation technology. This provides Elgin Sweeper's contractor and municipal customers the ability to do more with less.
NASCAR's transformative efforts in Green have established the league as the leader in sustainability across all of sports. Through strategic partnerships with teams, tracks and Official Partners, NASCAR Green continues to set new benchmarks. NASCAR's corporate headquarters in Daytona Beach, the International Motorsports Center, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ("LEED") Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. NASCAR also has the largest renewable energy stadium project in the world, Pocono Raceway, which powers more than 250 homes in the region.
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. (NASCAR) is the sanctioning body for the No. 1 form of motorsports in the United States. NASCAR consists of three national series (the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series), four regional series, one local grassroots series and three international series.
The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) governs the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the premier U.S. sports car series. Based in Daytona Beach, Fla., with offices in eight cities across North America, NASCAR sanctions more than 1,200 races in more than 30 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
