Bucher Municipal Enters the Sewer-cleaning Market

Bucher Municipal, a division of Bucher Industries, has taken over J. Hvidtved Larsen A/S (JHL), a technologically advanced Danish manufacturer of truck-mounted sewer-cleaning units with a strong base in Scandinavia and the UK.The acquisition provides growth opportunities for Bucher Municipal and brings together JHL's expertise in sewer cleaning, Bucher Municipal's in-depth understanding of the municipal markets and the strength of its firmly established distribution network. Bucher Municipal is a manufacturer of sweepers, refuse collection vehicles and winter main-tenance equipment for cleaning public traffic areas and clearing roads of snow and ice. It is the market leader in Europe and Australia. The division profits from the trend of urbanisation and is well positioned to expand activities on a product level as well as geographically in order to support municipalities and its partners worldwide. JHL's technologically advanced sewer-cleaning units are well established, successful and market proven. JHL is located in Silkeborg, Denmark, was founded in 1915 and has devel-oped to become a technological leader in the sewer-cleaning vehicle industry. It holds a strong market position in Scandinavia and the UK. With approximately 200 employees, the profitable company generated sales of around CHF 64 million in 2014. With the acquisition, Bucher Municipal gains highly specialised know-how and technology relating to the engineering of sewer-cleaning units. The JHL product line is completely complementary to that of Bucher Municipal and both companies share the same business model: Bucher Municipal and JHL manufacture kits, mount them on truck chassis and operate in the same markets, offering products and services to municipalities and private contractors. Bucher Municipal distributes its municipal vehicles through a strong, well-established distribution network in Europe, the USA and Australia. By adding JHL sewer-cleaning units and vehicles to the Bucher Municipal global distribution network, the division can offer a new, successful product line through its distribution partners. The business will continue to be led by JHL's cur-rent managing director, Brian Stage, who has successfully run the company for the last seven years.
